Gosh, this year flew by. Kickoff approaches for the Philadelphia Eagles Week 11 game versus the New Orleans Saints, and with it comes the final Sunday of football before Thanksgiving. arrives. Once that’s done, we’ll begin cranking up for Christmas, and if you’ve been paying attention, you’ve started to take notice of something.

It isn’t out of the realm of possibility that a postseason berth winds up under the Christmas tree, that is if you’re one of those people that procrastinate in taking the three down. Technically, we won’t reach Week 18 until we’re well into the new year on January 9th, and if the Birds do qualify for some bonus football, it’s probably going to take the full 17-game, 18-week schedule for them to get it done.

Mother Nature must be a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles running game.

Step number one in the remainder of what has the possibility to wind up being one of the more surprising seasons in Eagles history brings us back to a familiar stomping ground, Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia. The Saints, again, are the opponent. Philly is favored by three points.

The game-time temperature, according to NFLWeather.com, figures to be a rather brisk 51 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s expected that there will be a 6 miles-per-hour wind heading from the south to the southwest. The humidity is 72%. The Dew Point is 42f. Mother Nature must be cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend.

This is great news for a football team when you’re beginning to discover that you’re, quite possibly, the NFL’s best rushing attack when you dedicate yourself to pounding the rock. Jalen Hurts, Miles Sanders, and Jordan Howard will look to make magic happen on the ground.

The news isn’t as great when you’re a team that wants to rely on finesse and you play indoors, on average, nine times per season (eight at home and once when you visit the Atlanta Falcons).

Perhaps you’ve heard though. The Birds have been unable to deliver a win at the Linc since, well, the last time they played the New Orleans Saints, Week 14 of last season. As the temperature drops, the theory is that it’s the passing teams that should struggle more than the teams that want to run the ball. Ignore Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. They’re bad examples of this.

You get the idea. To make long stories short, the weather favors the Birds in Week 11, and as the temperature continues to drop, it shouldn’t affect what the Birds want to do on offense.

Philadelphia, believe it or not, is still alive for the postseason. The rest of the schedule sets up to be pretty favorable for the Eagles, but first things first. They have to take care of business versus New Orleans, or much of this may not matter much.
