Can the Eagles’ rushing attack be stopped? Can they keep this up?

When the season began, one of the more popular topics of discussion revolved around whether or not the Eagles O-line could stay healthy. If they could, everyone knew that we might have a lot of fun watching this offense.

Then both of their starting guards got hurt and were lost for the season. At this point, you have to ask yourself questions like why we don’t expect these things to happen.

The Birds have gotten a shot in the arm though. Jordan Mailata has continued his ascension. Landon Dickerson has a ton of potential (and he looks doggone good already). Jack Driscoll would have entered the season as the starter had he not had Brandon Brooks for the teammate.

The best part about this offensive line though is this. They’re mean and nasty. They’d be in support of running the ball on every down if they were asked their opinion, and as a result, the Birds have evolved into being the NFL’s best running team. The question is can they keep this up?

The running back position is the game’s most punished, and these guys are taking a lot of shots. We also saw Jordan Howard leave the field in Week 11. He didn’t return for the remainder of the contest.

The Birds seem to have found an identity, and here’s some good news. Even though Jordan Howard has a knee sprain and should miss Week 12’s game, there’s a chance that he’ll be back in Week 13 according to Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni.

Fortunately, Philly has some guys that can pick up the slack. Miles Sanders is a stud (but he has to hold on to the ball). Boston Scott is no flash in the pan himself, and Kenneth Gainwell was a steal in the most recent draft.

Still, even with that being said, we have to mention this. Jalen Hurts’ ability to improvise gives this offense’s running game even more punch. There’s a chance that the Birds could ride this running game to a long winning steak and a postseason berth. The question is will they?
