One might imagine that, ahead of an all-important divisional game versus the rival New York Giants, that the Philadelphia Eagles might burn a little midnight oil. That seems to be exactly what they’re doing. They say the Big Apple never sleeps, and it doesn’t appear that they’re turning in early at the NovaCare Complex either.

On the eve of another Thanksgiving holiday, we heard from head coach Nick Sirianni as we always do on Wednesdays. We also heard from some of the Eagles players, but Philadelphia wasn’t quite done with the workday even after all of that happened.

The Eagles shuffle their roster prior to Thursday’s Thanksgiving holiday.

A mini-roster shuffle got going early as, According to a report on the team’s official website by Chris McPherson at about 11 a.m. EST, the Birds, as we expected they would do following Sirianni’s injury report during Monday afternoon presser, added Davion Taylor to the team’s I.R. (injured reserve).

In a subsequent move, they signed sign linebacker Christian Elliss to the practice squad. Elliss was previously on the Eagles’ practice squad earlier this year. He was released on October 18th and acquired by the 49ers on November 3rd but released by San Francisco a week later.

McPherson also reported at about 5 p.m. EST that the Birds had reacquired Mac McCain off of waivers. He too spent some time with the Eagles earlier this season.

The Denver Broncos signed McCain as an undrafted free agent by the Denver Broncos following the 2021 NFL Draft. He was released on August 29th and signed as a member of their practice squad before Philly got interested and claimed him as a member of their active roster.

He debuted in Week 3, playing 13 special teams snaps versus the Dallas Cowboys, and the Eagles, in an attempt to sneak him through waivers lost him after his release on November 9th as Denver signed him again. He’s back just one day after the Broncos have made the decision to release him again. He played his college ball at North Carolina A&T University as a member of the Aggies.

Here’s a look at the Eagles injury report from Wednesday, November 24th:

  • Fletcher Cox (rest day) didn’t participate.
  • Jordan Howard (knee) sat out.
  • Darius Slay (concussion) didn’t participate.
  • Shaun Bradley (neck) was a limited participant.
  • Josh Sweat (knee) was listed as a limited participant.
  • Veterans Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson both had rest days as well.
