. . Avonte Maddox, cornerback. 3. player. 54.

Eagles cornerback Avonte Maddox

The last of the remaining members of the 2018 Eagles draft class to be offered his deal and sign it was Avonte Maddox. Who knows what may have been going through his head, but he got his money, ironically one day after his best friend and roommate Dallas Goedert got his (more on that later).

Now, with that out of the way, he knows he’s here for three more years, and he can concentrate on football.

Maddox and Goedert can most certainly afford separate dwellings unless they just choose to stay together and keep what’s no doubt been a party going for a little while longer. Stay tuned for updates.

Seriously though, Maddox’s ascension has been a joy to watch, from a young guy that flashed potential at times to a more mature veteran that makes plays all of the time. He’s evolved into a very good slot cornerback with the potential to be even better.

Say what you want about Jonathan Gannon, but Maddox is having his best season under the watch of Philly’s new defensive coordinator. He’s made Birds fans all but forget about Cre’Von LeBlanc, a former fan favorite, and if this ascension by Number 29 continues, the sky’s the limit on how good he can wind up being.
