5 oldest NFL players to ever wear a Philadelphia Eagles uniform
Sean Landeta, Philadelphia Eagles punter (2005)
Age: 43 years, 11.8 months
Perhaps the message here is a simple one to figure out and familiarize yourself with. If you want longevity in the National Football League and a long career, be a punter. We’re teasing of course, sort of, but there’s something to what we’re saying.
The Eagles have had some heavyweights play well into their twilight years, Jason Kelce and Jason Peters for example. They’ve snagged a few legends whose best days of their careers were clearly behind them (Art Mont and Richard Dent). They’ve even watched an all-time great pay into his late thirties as he spent his entire career in Eagles green (Chuch Bednarik).
Still, at 43 years of age and one month short of a 44th birthday, Sean Landeta tops our list of the oldest players ever to throw the iconic jersey on. In his final year with the Philadelphia Eagles, he was still averaging 43.6 yards per boot.
Sure, we normally don’t get pumped about putting punters in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, especially when guys like Eric Allen aren’t in yet, but Landeta is someone who should qualify for consideration.
