Philadelphia Eagles breakout players this team should build around
Philadelphia Eagles linebacker T.J. Edwards
A few days after the Philadelphia Eagles announced their decision to extend linebacker T.J. Edwards for another season, the outpouring has been unanimous. You won’t find anyone familiar with this team that has a bad thing to say about the player or the deal.
Don’t take our word for it. Ask around for yourselves. T.J.’s approval rating was never in the toilet by any means, but it’s definitely on the rise now.
Once seen as someone that lacks the speed necessary to play the role of being Philly’s quarterback on defense, Edwards looks a lot faster than the reputation states he is. He’s also seemingly more prepared to be on the field on third-and-long when the opposing offense is in an obvious passing situation as evidenced by his interception versus the New Orleans Saints in Week 11.
Through the first 11 games, Edwards has been the starter in nine of them. That’s resulted in 76 total tackles, a sack, an interception, three pass breakups, and a fumble recovery, and the best is yet to come. Here’s a prediction. That one-year deal will turn into a multi-year deal at the end of next season.
