Gardner Minshew’s final grades for Week 13

Now, many of you are excited. You should have seen Twitter on Sunday. Those who were already on the ‘Jalen Hurts needs to sit’ train are on fire right now, but here’s a controversial statement.

Jalen Hurts, when he’s ready to go, needs to return to the starter’s chair. That doesn’t mean that he can’t be pulled if he’s awful, but most of us, at various points of the days leading up to Week 13’s game, thought we’d get a glimpse of how he’d respond after playing what can be seen as the worst game of his NFL career as a starter.

We were robbed of that versus the Jets, but that still needs to be determined. Kudos are in order for Gardner Minshew for doing his job. He did exactly what a backup should. He proved he can win games if an emergency happens. Some might even be of the belief that had he played versus the New York Giants, Philly would have won that game.

Still, with all things being considered, the best thing for this team is still for Hurts to lead on offense if he’s healthy enough to do so. The question is this. With leadership reportedly being on opposite sides in terms of where they believe Jalen is in terms of winning the starting role moving forward, how patient will everyone be if he struggles?
