Minshew Mania has some Eagles fans confused about how they value Jalen Hurts.

All it took was for the Philadelphia Eagles to walk into MetLife Stadium, throttle the New York Jets, and erase some of the bad taste that a loss to the hated and lowly Giants brings. The next thing you know, what can only be described as a mini-quarterback controversy is all the rage in the City of Brotherly Love.

Ah yes, people are enthralled over Gardner Minshew‘s mustache and Philly’s version of Minshew Mania, but head coach Nick Sirianni has already quelled the rumors. When Jalen Hurts is ready and healthy, he’s the Eagles’ starter. The question is for how long?

Conventional thinking would tell you several things. One, Gardner Minshew isn’t the long-term answer for this Eagles team. Second, no one’s sure that Jalen Hurts can’t be, so it’s Jalen’s job to lose.

Past this season, however, no one knows anything. Rumors of Philadelphia’s interest in Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson persist, but those aren’t definite solutions. There also doesn’t seem to be any signal-callers in the coming NFL Draft that put the Birds in a better position than they are already in.

That brings us to next March’s free-agency frenzy. If the Eagles fish for a quarterback there, the options aren’t perfect (Teddy Bridgewater, Tyrod Taylor, Tim Boyle, and Chad Henne), but there are options. Here’s a ranking of five potential free agents that can push Jalen Hurts in the 2022 season.
