Eagles can sign any of these free agents to push Jalen Hurts next season
Andy Dalton is shaky but one of the better options the Eagles have.
Okay, don’t tell him that we told you this if you see him, but the mention of Andy Dalton‘s name can lead to a few snickers and eye-rolls. He had his shot with the Cincinnati Bengals and won, going 70-61-2 in his time there, but it was obvious that he was never going to lead Cincy to anything other than a playoff appearance.
He went 0-4 in the postseason over the course of his nine years there. You can’t blame the talent that he had around him either. He had weapons, A.J. Green for instance, but the team never found any traction towards doing any major damage in the playoffs even when they were decent.
Then, it happened. Cincinnati remembered that they were, well, Cincinnati and started losing again, so in 2020, the Bungles decided that they had enough. They drafted Joe Burrow first-overall in 2020, and Dalton was finally given his walking papers.
He’s since seen two teams in two seasons, the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Bears, and in 13 starting appearances, he’s gone 6-7. That’s the story of his career. Sometimes, he’s a little better than average. Sometimes, he falls short, but that’s the stuff backups are made of, and in his defense, you have to say this.
We know that he’s better than Josh Rosen, Trace McSorley, Trevor Siemian, and Dwayne Haskins. Come on. You, at least have to give him that.
