Eagles can sign any of these free agents to push Jalen Hurts next season
After enjoying Minshew Mania, could the Eagles elect for Fitzmagic in 2022?
Oh yeah! You love it! Admit it! No one wants Ryan Fitzpatrick to be their starter. That’s evident, but he’s like that fire extinguisher that you have in the kitchen. Sometimes, even though you know nothing bad is going to happen, it’s nice to have a little insurance.
Fitzpatrick has been in the National Football League forever, and that’s no exaggeration. He’s taken snaps for nine different franchises, so if your team finds itself in a pinch and needs a band-aid at quarterback, you can always pick up the phone, get this guy’s agent on the line, and get him to your team facility.
Count them up. We did. We had to. You know good and well that you can’t remember how long Fitzpatrick has been in the league or how many teams he’s played for without cheating, so we did. The answer is 17. Ryan Fitzpatrick has played for 17 NFL seasons as a member of nine different franchises (thanks Google).
Over the course of his career, he’s gone 59-87-1 as a starter which is awful, but think about it. Which one sounds better? ‘Ryan Fitzpatrick is the backup’ or ‘the Eagles are starting Mike Glennon or A.J. McCarron in place of the injured starter’?
On the surface, there are reasons to support and refute this idea, but the same was true about Josh McCown. That didn’t turn out to be so bad, so here’s where we stand on this.
After a broken-down Wentz Wagon had to be bailed out by Saint Nick twice and after Jalen Hurts’ injury allowed us to witness a little Minshew Mania, who knows? A little Fitzmagic could do the fan base some good if the Eagles are looking to light a fire under Jalen Hurts next season.
