The Eagles meet Washington in Week 15, and the stakes are high.

It feels like it’s been a month since the Philadelphia Eagles have played a football game. Think about how long ago it was when you saw Dallas Goedert score his second touchdown of the game or when you smiled while watching Gardner Minshew celebrate the victory post-game with his father. Doesn’t that feel like it was more than two weeks ago?

Nevertheless, the long wait is over. On Sunday, December 19th, the Birds meet their long-time rivals, the Washington Football Team, at 1 p.m. EST to play an NFL game.

Times have changed. Long ago, if two 6-7 teams met this late in the season, it meant that one of them (or both of them) was probably out of the race. Thank the NFL for being forward-thinking.

These days, divisional games are played at the end of each team’s schedule, and that makes for some late-season intrigue. While you’re mulling that over, give league offices a high-five for adding both a 17th regular-season game and an extra Wild Card team to both sides of the playoff bracket.

Tuesday’s game will be the 173rd meeting between these two proud franchises. Washington leads the all-time head-to-head tally by an 88-79-5 margin. The winning team in this affair will have a leg up in the Wild Card race. Here are a few bold predictions as we await kickoff.
