How tough are the Eagles mentally after being screwed by the NFL?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve heard the news. The Eagles, with only two players on their own Reserve/COVID-19 list, will have to be inconvenienced by playing a game on Tuesday thanks to a Washington Football Team that entered Saturday with almost half of their players on their COVID list.

Now, on the surface, that doesn’t sound like much but think about it this way. These guys are creatures of habit. They’ve been expecting to play a game on Sunday all week. Now, it won’t happen.

By the time the game kicks off, 16 days will have elapsed since the last time the Eagles have played football. Then, once this game wraps, the turnaround time until their next game, one versus the New York Giants, will be five days. Seven days after that, they again play this Washington team.

If you’re keeping score, thats’ three games on the schedule in a 13-day window. The NFL didn’t do the Birds any solids by doing this. Eagles players aren’t happy, and they have the right to be upset. They’re, in a sense, being punished for Washington’s actions.

Some of the players have reacted on social media, and let’s just say they haven’t pulled any punches. Now, they have to refocus. Nick Sirianni will have to do one of his best coaching and motivational jobs over these next three weeks.

If he does, this will be something that we rave over despite what happens in the offseason. If he or his team fails, Philadelphia’s playoff hopes could slip away in a hurry.
