Eagles announce huge roster move ahead of Washington game
Who would have ever thought that, at the beginning of the season, especially with the way that the Philadelphia Eagles played at times, that we’d be talking about a playoff run by the time we passed the midpoint of December? Come on! You saw this team play versus the Kansas City Chiefs, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Las Vegas Raiders. That was some bad football.
It was so bad that many of us abandoned a notion that we walked into the season with. If Philly could just weather the early-season storm, they could make up some ground late.
Sure, there was often reason to abandon this theory during most of the times when we watched this team play, but we have indeed found some light at the end of the tunnel, partially because the Washington Football Team, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings, and San Francisco 49ers are all mediocre teams too.
The NFC is wide open, and even though the Birds, at no fault of their own, have a huge challenge on their hands, there is some good news to report.
According to an official team report, the Eagles get their best deep-threat option, Quez Watkins back as he’s been removed from the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Nick Sirianni stated, during his Friday afternoon press conference, that, in light of him missing a full week’s worth of practices, he may still be a game-time decision.
Jason Huntley was activated from the COVID-19 list as well. He’s back on the Eagles’ practice squad.
The Eagles have a huge four-week test ahead of them.
There’s no nice way to say this. You can’t be honest about what happened without sounding a tad disrespectful, but we have to be honest, right? You’ve heard this 200 times, and it still needs to be said again for the sake of argument. The Philadelphia Eagles were absolutely screwed with the decision to move their Week 15 game to Tuesday evening. What’s worse is the fact that they’ve been punished without having done anything wrong.
They, now, will have their physical and mental toughness challenged. They’ll play two games in six days, three games in 13 days, and they get to do so during the most stressful part of their season, the stretch run.
A Wild Card berth is on the line. We should all be past the point of anger by now (if you aren’t, hang in there), and even though many of us have spent some of our time complaining about the NFL’s decision. This could still work out in the Eagles’ favor.
