Philadelphia Eagles will face Giants team sans Daniel Jones in Week 16
It’s a marathon, not a sprint. You’ve heard that phrase attached to the NFL season for just about as long as you’ve been watching the game, and now that the regular-season grind goes on for 17 games and 18 weeks, another leg seems to have been added to everyone’s race. For the Philadelphia Eagles, the stakes are well-known. Philly’s finish line, if they answer the call, might be a Wild Card berth.
Now, they’re currently looking up at the San Francisco 49ers and the Minnesota Vikings, and the second-place finisher in the AFC West, the Los Angeles Rams or the Arizona Cardinals, figure to take up residency at 5th place and occupy a Wild Card spot of their own. Still, you have to like the Eagles’ chances if they win out.
Week 15 means the Birds host the Washington Football Team at Lincoln Financial Field. Both teams sport identical 6-7 records, so the winner of this one has a leg up in the Wild Card race. Once that one wraps, the next game on the schedule comes in five days, and while the opponent is familiar, they won’t be bringing a familiar face with them.
The Philadelphia Eagles face a Giants team that won’t have Daniel Jones in Week 16.
At the risk of looking too far ahead on the schedule, something of note must be pointed out. As most of you have known for some time now, multiple sources have reported that, in light of his neck injury, the New York Giants have made the decision to shut their QB1, Daniel Jones, down for the remainder of the regular season.
Apparently, over the course of the past few weeks, he’s been seeing two specialists, Dr. Frank Cammisa of the Hospital for Special Surgery and Dr. Robert Watkins of the Marina Spine Center at Marina Del Rey Hospital. In light of their findings, the decision has been made that, for precautionary reasons, Jones, who was seen as being in a make-or-break year, will have to wait until next season to join his teammates on the field again if New York elects to keep him on board.
While no one wishes injury on anyone, there’s still a game to play in Week 16, and the theory is that an Eagles team facing a Giants squad with Mike Glennon or Jake Fromm at the helm of its offense should have an opportunity to win.
First thing’s first though. The Eagles need to get past the Washington Football Team in Week 16 in order for the next game to have any meaning.
