Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni now in NFL COVID-19 protocol
Well, even on a good week, there can be setbacks. On the day following the Philadelphia Eagles‘ masterful performance, from the second quarter on anyway, there’s some unfortunate news to relay. According to an official team report and head coach Nick Sirianni himself, when he addressed members of the Philly media on Wednesday, Coach Sirianni has tested positive for coronavirus.
As of now, the plan is for him to perform as many of the duties as he can remotely as he attempts to return to work in full capacity sometime in the near future.
Here’s a quote from the Eagles head coach:
"I wasn’t feeling great this morning when I woke up, and (I) just got tested. Obviously, we are where we are right now. I’m feeling okay. I’m feeling a little bit better right now which is good, and then, the rest of the week, I’ll be in every meeting, obviously virtually. (I’ll be in) every quarterback meeting, every offensive meeting, every team meeting. I’ll be running those. Yeah, just business as usual."
Here’s what to expect next as Nick Sirianni recovers.
Coach also states that Passing Game Coordinator Kevin Patullo will assume game-day head coaching duties in Nick Sirianni’s absence. Fortunately, the opponent is a familiar one and an opponent that the Eagles just faced in Week 12
Philadelphia has a quick turnaround from one game to the next as they host the New York Giants in Week 16 during the early slate of games on Sunday.
New York has lost three straight since their 13-7 victory over the Birds. That seemingly has ended any outside shot that they have at the postseason (though mathematically they’re still alive).
Still, with the news that New York has made the decision to shut Daniel Jones down for the remainder of the season, it stands to reason that the Eagles should and will be favored in Week 16’s game.
