Philadelphia Eagles Week 15 studs (continued) and a dud

You do realize that, had the Eagles gotten this Washington Football Team at full strength and they played like we saw in Week 15, they probably would have lost, right? Oh well! There’s no use in crying over spilled milk or things that fall in the should have/would have category.

There’s much to work on, but thank heaven that the Eagles get to do some adjusting with another game in the win column. Here’s one more stud and a dud.

Stud: Fletcher Cox, defensive tackle

Do we sometimes hold Fletcher Cox to a higher standard? We absolutely do, but it’s only because we know what he’s capable of. We also need him! It doesn’t get any more honest than that!

Cox had that sack at the end of the first half to send the Eagles to the break with a tie on the scoreboard. He also wound up with another half-sack and tackle for a loss. Placing him on the outside for a few snaps was a nice wrinkle as well (and it worked).

Dud: Jonathan Gannon, defensive coordinator

This guy NEVER has his unit ready to play ball. You have eyes. You could see what was going on. It’s understandable why Jonathan Gannon wouldn’t bring the blitz constantly versus Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes, but why wasn’t he pressuring Garrett Gilbert more?

If you didn’t know better, had you watched him tonight, you would have thought he’s been starting all season. Gannon’s defense will do that for you. He makes every opposing quarterback, young or old, look efficient.
