It’s time for the Eagles to slam the door shut on Washington.

Throughout his first 18 starts as an NFL quarterback, Philadelphia Eagles QB1 Jalen Hurts played the Dallas Cowboys twice and the Washington Football Team on another occasion. He lost each of those games. Here’s why that’s concerning. To be a great team, NFL squads must prove an ability to consistently dominate the other three teams in their division. That’s how you become a perennial playoff contender.

In Week 12, Hurts carried his 0-3 record versus NFC East competition into MetLife Stadium versus the lowly New York Giants. Surely he’d get a win against them, right? Nope! Hurts struggled through his worst outing as a starter, and Philly lost by a score of 13-7.

He seems to have gotten the hang of things now. He’s beaten both Washington and New York in consecutive weeks. It must be mentioned however that both teams fielded backup quarterbacks. That brings us to Philadelphia’s defense.

The Eagles defense has looked porous at times, impressive at others, and marginal at still others. Through it all, they’ve persevered and now sit as a top-five team in terms of yards allowed per game. Good defense and a great rushing attack always travel well in the NFL.

At this point of the campaign, you’d like to see Philly’s defense limit an offense they should handcuff for a full four quarters. We’re counting on it. We’re expecting good things for the offense as well. Here are a few bold predictions for Week 17’s game.
