Well, this isn’t good. According to multiple reports, including one from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, a dozen Philadelphia Eagles have been added to the team’s Reserve/COVID-19 list. That includes about five starters.

There’s no need to beat around any bushes here. Among the names mentioned were center Jason Kelce, cornerback Avonte Maddox, safety Rodney McLeod, running back Boston Scott, linebacker Alex Singleton, tight end Jack Stoll, linebacker Genard Avery, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, safety Marcus Epps, tight end Dallas Goedert, guard Nate Herbig, and running back Jordan Howard.

Here are the reports:

So far, there’s no reason for the Eagles to worry.

Shortly after McLane’s report was released, he also advised is of an activation. Reserve defensive back Andre Chachere has been elevated from Philly’s COVID-19 list. It’s also been announced that kicker Matt McCrane has been released from the practice squad.

McCrane’s release is interesting. Wouldn’t the Eagles want to keep a kicker around just in case something happens to Jake Elliott?

Another thing that we might want to consider would be this. The Eagles took a two-hour bus ride from Landover, Maryland back to Philadelphia as opposed to taking the train, so even though the count of affected players stands at a dozen, there’s a high chance that other names could be added to the list later.

That shouldn’t serve as a reason to panic though. Thanks to an Eagles victory in Week 17 and a few other things breaking their way, including a loss by the Minnesota Vikings to the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia has already earned a playoff berth.

That’s led to discussions about whether or not they’d play some of their starters in the season finale versus the Dallas Cowboys. This may give us our answer. Still, in terms of the postseason’s schedule and some modifications to the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols (including the isolation period being reduced from ten days to five), by the time we move through the next two weeks, the Birds should get everyone back in time for the Wild Card Game.
