5 biggest takeaways from the Eagles late-season NFL playoff run
Howie Roseman may have saved his job as the Eagles VP/GM.
At this point, it may be water under the bridge, but there’s no argument for why Howie Roseman should have kept his job following the 2020-2021 NFL season. Here we were, just three years after the Eagles closed a magical run that ended with Philadelphia hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy to conclude Super Bowl LII, the franchise, organizationally and structurally was in the toilet.
Doug Pederson, the only man who has ever walked the planet that can say he won the Super Bowl as the Eagles head coach, had decided he had enough. So did the franchise quarterback that Philly just inked to a four-year, $128 million contract extension with $107 million guaranteed on June 6th of 2019.
Howie seemed to be doing more harm than good, and had he been given his walking papers a year ago, no one would have batted an eyelash. One year later, following his team’s run to the NFL’s postseason, firing this guy seems absurd.
Don’t look now, but the man everyone loves to hate may have bought himself another year following another late-season run to the postseason. And, to top it off, as you know, the Birds have three first-round picks in the next NFL Draft.
