Whether you like the Philadelphia Eagles‘ decision to sit 19 starters versus the Dallas Cowboys or not, what’s done is done. You have to understand why they made the decision though.

All you want as a professional football team at the close of any NFL season is two things. One is obvious. You want to put yourself in a position to earn a playoff berth which Philly has done.

They were assured of a spot in the postseason following their thrilling win versus the Washington Football Team in Week 17 and a few other things breaking their way, the Green Bay Packers win over the Minnesota Vikings for instance.

Secondly, every playoff team wants the same thing, to enter the tournament being as healthy as possible. For the most part, Philly has done that.

Sure, we don’t know what’s going on with Miles Sanders, and the likelihood that we won’t see Brandon Brooks again this season is high, but the Birds expect to get the remaining members of their roster who are on the COVID-19 list back for Philadelphia’s Wild Card game. That’s a good thing.

Nothing’s perfect though, and it appears that the Eagles will tackle the rest of their season without one of the young stars that they have high hopes for.

Philadelphia Eagles announce Tyree Jackson’s season is over.

We thought there might be some bad news following Tyree Jackson’s exit from the Eagles/Dallas Cowboys clash in Week 18, an exit Jackson wouldn’t return from. According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, Jackson’s season is indeed done. Take a look.

That, in all likelihood, means that Jackson is headed to Philadelphia’s injured reserve. That will conclude his season and guarantee that we probably won’t see him back on a practice field until sometime around OTAs.

Next. Eagles Week 18 studs and duds. dark

His season ends with three receptions on seven targets, 22 receiving yards, and a touchdown. It’s most certainly premature to state that the former Buffalo Bulls and Buffalo Bills quarterback has a future in the National Football League as a tight end, but he has proven that he deserves a look in 2022.

Keep his name in your notes. With proper coaching, this is a guy that could evolve into a more-than-capable NFL tight end.
