48. . . . Chris Godwin, Buccaneers. 2. player

Chris Godwin makes sense for the Eagles receiving corps.

This is another of those potential ‘low-risk and high-reward’ signings. Any possibility of Chris Godwin being a key piece in a possible return by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Super Bowl ended when the six-foot-one, 208-pound Philadelphia native tore his ACL and sprained his MCL in a Week 15 loss against the New Orleans Saints. That ended his season.

At that point, he had hauled in 98 catches for 1,103 yards and five touchdowns. He had also tallied 21 rushing yards on four carries and another touchdown with his legs.

Here are the numbers for his career: 358 snags, 4,875 receiving yards, and 30 touchdowns in 76 games with 51 starts. Those numbers include four playoff games.

It’s easy to be a wide receiver and be overlooked when one has Mike Evans for a teammate. It’s even easier to be buried on a list of interesting conversations when a brash personality like Bruce Arians is hired to be the head coach, Tom Brady signs, and TB12 brings Rob Gronkowski along with him for the ride. We won’t even bring up Antonio Brown.

The Bucs are loaded with talent, even if they can’t get all of it on the field at the same time, but they won’t be able to hold onto everyone come the 2022 offseason. Godwin’s time in Tampa could be nearing its end, and as far as the Eagles are concerned, this is one guy they should give some serious consideration to if that’s indeed the case.
