The Philadelphia Eagles wrapped up the regular season with a 9-8 record and will now travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers (13-4) in the Super Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs.
It’s a tale of two vastly different franchises. Tom Brady will be playing in his 46th career playoff game, with his last being a Super Bowl victory. Meanwhile, the Eagles are coming off a four-win season a year ago and weren’t favored to make the postseason under first-year head coach Nick Sirianni.

Jalen Hurts returned to practice in full this week, which is extremely good news for the Eagles. Having him healthy gives them a puncher’s chance against a very good (and very injured) Buccaneers team.
Hurts leads a Philadelphia rushing attack that averaged nearly 160 yards per game and he hopes to have typical backfield mate Miles Sanders back in the lineup. The duo each ran for more than 750 yards this season.
Hurts’ ability to extend plays on the ground is really where he does his damage. As a pure passer he didn’t light the world on fire – as demonstrated by a rough statistical outing in a close game against Tampa Bay earlier this season.
Hurts completed 12-of-26 passes that game for 115 yards and one touchdown. Still, the Eagles only lost by six points.
For the Buccaneers, they’ll have to deal with a plethora of injuries offensively.
No Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown, Ronald Jones. Gio Bernard, Mike Evans and Leonard Fournette have been limited recently.
Tampa Bay will likely move Evans and tight end Rob Gronkowski around the formation to get favorable matchups, while using Bernard in the short-passing game. But then there’s the added element of Tom Brady, which really you can’t account for, because he’s going to do GOAT things.
