Potential Eagles free-agent replacements for Brandon Graham
Potential Eagles replacements for Derek Barnett: Chandler Jones
Have any of you ever looked at the Arizona Cardinals’ roster, thought about Jordan Hicks and Zach Ertz being there, and wondered what it would be like to raid their roster for a change?
If you’re an older Eagles fan, you also know that this isn’t the first time we’ve watched former Eagles be productive in the Cards’ uniform. Once upon a time, one of the better players to ever play linebacker for Philly, Seth Joyner, tallied 209 tackles, seven interceptions, five forced fumbles, and 12 sacks in 48 career games with Arizona.
It was hard to watch. That’s putting things as lightly as we can.
It seems inconceivable that the Arizona Cardinals will let Chandler Jones get out of the door. Like Joyner, he’s also eclipsed 200 tackles in a Cards jersey. He has 262 on his resume to be exact. He’s also racked 107.5 career sacks in 139 career regular-season games.
Still, at the time of this story being written and published, the Cards have yet to ink the six-foot-five, 265-pound four-time Pro Bowler to an extension. If they don’t, someone will, and that deal will, more than likely, be for a pretty penny. If Philly’s interested, they’ll get a game-changer.
Age is a question here. He turns 32 years old in February, so you wonder how many great years he has left, but for a team needing pass rushers and veteran leadership (again, they can lose three team captains in the offseason in Jason Kelce, Rodney McLeod, and Brandon Graham), but when you watch Chandler play it’s impossible to believe that he wouldn’t be one of the best players on defense if he was on Philadelphia’s roster.
