Potential Eagles prospect Devin Lloyd, linebacker

During his senior season with what’s now a rather impressive Utah Utes program, Devin Lloyd tallied 111 total tackles. That includes 66 solo stops and 22 takedowns that resulted in a loss of yardage. Oh, and that’s not all.

Seven sacks, four interceptions, six pass breakups, a forced fumble, and two defensive touchdowns in his final season at the collegiate level led him to a Consensus First-team All-American nod, the Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year Award, and the second of two First-team All-Pac 12 nods. The other came in 2020.

Now the Pac 12 is a long way from the NFL, but if the Eagles were to land Lloyd and if those types of numbers were to translate to the professional level during his first NFL season, this six-foot-three, 235-pound standout would be able to land a job as a member of Philadelphia’s city council if he wanted one. Unfortunately, it isn’t going to happen.

Auburn’s Zakoby McClain, Alabama’s Christian Harris, Penn State’s Brandon Smith, and Georgia’s Quay Walker are among some of the guys that could find their way onto a list of the five best linebacker prospects coming into the NFL in 2022.

As of right now, it feels like Lloyd and LSU’s Damone Clark are the top two linebackers in this class, so they may not be available by the time we reach the 15th-overall selection. they both might have been snatched up by someone. If they aren’t, the Eagles have to jump at the chance of taking one or the other. If Lloyd isn’t available, Clark is a nice consolation prize and vice versa.
