The Philadelphia Eagles have had their fair share of buyer’s remorse over the past couple of years. They’ll never admit it. They tend to tell us that those mistakes will still have a chance of working out, even if there’s no evidence that they ever will, but trust and believe they see the same things that you do.

So, yes, despite the fact that we act like the opposite is true, this is a decently-run organization that’s led by some bright people. They know JJ Arcega-Whiteside is bad. They know that drafting Jalen Reagor was a mistake. Their problem is something else. They don’t have the luxury of blasting guys who are underperforming during their next press conference or on social media.

Nothing changes for the Philadelphia Eagles in a recent 2021 NFL Draft do-over.

If only life and the NFL had a reset button. We could go back and add D.K. Metcalf. We could wave a magic wand and put Justin Jefferson on this team. Vice president/general manager Howie Roseman‘s early-round failures have been well-publicized, but 2022’s draft class might be one of his best.

Milton Williams is a stud. Tarron Jackson figures to show and prove with some good coaching. Landon Dickerson is solid, and guess what? Howie Roseman got the pick in the first round right as well.

That’s why, in a recent 2021 NFL Draft re-do, one performed by The Draft Network, Ryan Fowler doesn’t change anything with the Philadelphia Eagles’ choice in the first round. He still sends former Alabama Crimson Tide standout DeVonta Smith to the Birds with the tenth-overall selection, and here’s some of his reason for doing so.

"Each with illustrious careers in their SEC days, Chase, Waddle, and Smith immediately became target hogs within their respective offenses. An Eagles group that struggled to find their offensive identity until later in the season, Smith still managed to break DeSean Jackson’s rookie record for receiving yards in a season (912). With increased chances to stretch the field, Smith has the potential to put up even gaudier numbers in his sophomore season."

Believe it or not, a full month has passed since we exchanged Christmas gifts with loved ones or at some office party (or both), and if you’re like some of the general public, you’ve now had enough time to return those unwanted items for store credits.

You’ve probably wished that, at some point in the process, Philly could have returned JJAW and Reagor to their senders, but hey, what can you do? You live and you learn, right?

It’s totally normal to look over at what the Dallas Cowboys are doing and wonder what it would be like had the Eagles drafted Micah Parsons, but rest easy. For once, Philadelphia got the right guy. It’s going to be fun to watch DeVonta Smith grow up in an Eagles jersey.
