As members of the media and as journalists, we spend tremendous amounts of hours discussing the statistical and off-field achievements of our favorite Philadelphia Eagles. Most times, it’s rewarding, and it rarely feels like work.

We talk about record-breaking performances and the mental errors of our favorite players on the field. If those errors cost their team the game, we  talk about that. When bad news comes, regardless of form, that also gets a mention. It isn’t the most satisfying part of the job, but it is, indeed, a part of the job.

It’s much more fun to talk about the heroic moments that lead to wins though. Those are the stories that make the job worthwhile, but nothing compares to stories like one we came across recently. The star of this one is one of the most beloved Birds of recent memory, the magic man, Jon Dorenbos.

Eagles Nation’s favorite magician, Jon Dorenbos, gives us yet another reason to smile.

If you’ve already heard this story, you’ll no doubt forgive us if we tell it again, won’t you? NBC10 Philadelphia recently shared a story of bravery and heroism.

According to the report, Jon and his wife happened to be nearby when they noticed a Huntington Beach restaurant had caught fire. Is there any doubt about how this turned out?

Dorenbos leapt into action. Eyewitnesses on the scene, in their accounts, reported that Jon’s immediate action and willingness to help saved the owner’s life!

Here’s a quote from Dorenbos courtesy of Adam Hermann’. Credit him as the writer of this amazing story

"One of the things I’m most thankful for about playing in the NFL, I played 14 years, was just this idea of, under pressure being able to calm down and think… I got my wife’s blanket, I got (Nakao) to the ground and was just like, ‘Hey, help me out, I’ve got you. I’ve got you. You’re gonna be alive. It’s okay.’ I remember her looking at me and I just said, ‘Honey, it’s okay. You’re alive. We did it.’"

Ana Nakao suffered second-degree and third-degree burns and, according to her husband, Akira, she’s undergone two surgeries during recovery.  Obviously, this could have been a lot worse though. Thank goodness it wasn’t.

Since his retirement, as they do with every beloved Eagle, Birds fans have kept up with what the most famous long snapper in franchise history has been doing. Dorenbos continues to enjoy life and has gone on to become a professional magician, once finishing third on NBC’s America’s Got Talent. Perhaps, it’s best to let him wrap this up.

"That’s the magic of the world, right? We’re there for each other. We support one another. We love all. We serve all, and we try to make this world a better place."

Okay, seriously… How can you not love this guy? The Magic Man definitely gets a tip of the cap from Inside The Iggles.
