Potential Eagles target Josh Thompson, Texas Longhorns

Josh Thompson is a bit undersized at five-foot-eleven and 194 pounds, so it’s hard to imagine a scenario where he walks into Philadelphia and becomes their day-one starter on the outside. Think about it. He’s two inches taller than Avonte Maddox but somewhere around ten pounds lighter. You have to wonder if he’d be pushed around at the NFL level.

After a season in 2021 where he racked up 34 total tackles, an interception, and two pass breakups, he’s been invited to Mobile to show what he can do. A big week can really get some buzz going.

Alontae Taylor has the physical presence that Josh Thompson and some of these other prospects wish they had, He weighs about 194 pounds which is actually what Thompson weighs, but he’s a little over an inch taller which, in the minds of some, would make him a better prospect for the outside corner position. There’s just one problem. There are concerns about his speed.

He stuck his head in on 60 total tackles, forced a fumble, broke up six passes, hauled in two interceptions, and even scored a defensive touchdown for the Tennessee Volunteers in 2021, but much of his evaluation process this offseason will be about whether or not he should actually be playing safety once he reaches the next level. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
