Eagles DE Josh Sweat added to his first Pro Bowl as replacement
This team looks a little better than the original, or maybe we’re just biased. You can admit though that, when the initial Pro Bowl roster was released, it was a bit lacking. Sure, Darius Slay and Jason Kelce’s names were there. They were totally deserving, but there were several other Philadelphia Eagles who were noticeably absent: Lane Johnson, Jake Elliott, Jordan Mailata, and Javon Hargrave for instance.
There’s been some good news though. Since its initial release, the 2022 Pro Bowl roster has undergone changes, and now some of those deserving Birds are making their first appearance in pro football’s all-star game.
Javon Hargrave saw his name added on January 26th. He’s replacing the injured Kenny Clark. Jake Elliott’s addition came five days later as he replaces Matt Gay of the Los Angeles Rams with Gay having a pretty important game to play one week after the Pro Bowl. This is the first Pro Bowl release for both Elliott and Hargrave, and on the first day of February, another Bird got his just due, defensive end Josh Sweat.
Eagles star Josh Sweat earns his first Pro Bowl nod as an injury replacement.
Now, this one should truly make you smile. Say this one out loud. According to an official team report, one penned by Chris McPherson, Josh Sweat is headed to his first Pro Bowl. He’s been added as an injury replacement for Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers.
Take a look at this one:
During the 2021-2022 season, Josh Sweat appeared in all 16 regular-season games, making 13 starts. The result was 45 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, 13 additional QB hits, a forced fumble, and four pass breakups. He’s now an NFL all-star, and good for him! It’s good to see good things happen to good people.
Now, all we need is for Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson to be placed on the roster, and we promise that you won’t hear another peep out of the Inside The Iggles staff. There we go with the biased comments again, huh?
