Three first-round draft choices… Get used to saying that if you haven’t already. There’s excitement in the Philadelphia Eagles fan base. There’s also some fear working. Two opposing statements can be true at the same time.

Birds fans everywhere have spent hours thinking about those first-rounders and what they would do if they were in the draft war room. As exciting as it is to know this proud franchise beat many of the odds (and the oddsmakers) and earned a postseason berth, it’s maddening and downright depressing to know that it will again be vice president/general manager Howie Roseman who will be making those picks.

If you’re confused about why that’s so disturbing, you haven’t been paying attention. Ask someone who has been. If anyone can screw this up, it’s probably Roseman, but keep your head up. There’s good news. Fortunately, the first-round talent in this selection meeting might be Howie-proof.

The Eagles brass is putting in some O.T. in Mobile, Alabama.

Speaking of Howie Roseman, he and the boss, Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie are in Mobile, Alabama hanging out for the Senior Bowl. They’ve been scoping some of the best quarterbacks there (Kenny Pickett, Carson Strong, and Desmond Ridder). They’ve also gotten an extended look at former Liberty Flames quarterback Malik Willis.

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah stated recently that he “has been the most impressive QB here through two practices“, and it appears that Howie has been paying close attention. Crissy Froyd of SI Cowbell Corner, NBC Sports EDGE, and The Draft Network named the Eagles as one of the five teams Carson Strong stated he had meetings with and that his meeting with Philadelphia “went really well”. Then, there are two of the monsters that everyone’s eyeing on the other side of the ball.

It wasn’t that long ago that Inside The Iggles discussed a former Florida State Seminoles standout (Jermaine Johnson II) and asked if they might take an interest seeing as how they already had a very good EDGE star who also cut his teeth at FSU (Josh Sweat). Johnson is shining and may have solidified himself as a first-rounder in the next NFL Draft. Get a load of this:

Write his name down if you haven’t already. The Eagles met with him this week.

Now, it may not mean much (they met with every prospect at last year’s Senior Bowl), but it is worth making a mental note of. Another name to remember is Kingsley Enagbare of the South Carolina Gamecocks. He isn’t a first-rounder, but he’s someone who could catch the Eagles’ eye on Day 2.
