At the time of this story being written and published, four years have elapsed since the Philadelphia Eagles played in and won Super Bowl 52. This may sound biased but we’re talking about the greatest football story that’s ever been witnessed, a story that gave us some of the most iconic plays in the history of football’s biggest game. It was on that night that great players like Jason Kelce took their place among the NFL’s legends.

We saw the greatest trick play in the history of the Super Bowl, the Philly Special. We saw Brandon Graham get to Tom Brady when he absolutely had to and author the greatest and probably the most famous strip-sack that the game has ever seen. A victory parade came a few days later, and that’s when the party really got going. Mr. Kelce came dressed for the occasion.

Sporting a Mummers outfit, one of the greatest players in franchise history reminded us of why he’s also the most beloved in the span of about five minutes. In what can only be described as the greatest speech in the history of victory parades, darts were thrown at doubters and detractors. Kelce held no punches. It’s why we love him.

Jason Kelce is from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, but he’s also one of Philadelphia’s favorite sons, an adopted son if you will. He’ll never have to buy a beer in the town again. His most recent season, however, was tough on him physically, and we’ve been reminded of his mortality, forcing everyone to wonder how much longer he’ll play. It’s again one of the bigger stories as we near the offseason.

Eagles legend Jason Kelce hints at retirement, or did he?

On the anniversary of the Eagles’ Super Bowl win, Jason Kelce hung out on 94 WIP-FM’s Midday Show with Jon Ritchie and  Joe DeCamara. As you might imagine, the subject of his future plans came up.

The four-time First-Team All-Pro announced in the days leading up to the Pro Bowl that he wouldn’t be participating. That’s only added fuel to the burning questions about whether or not the 2021-2022 NFL season would be his swan song. What’s he thinking? How’s he feeling? How about we get the news from the source?

On the subject of whether or not Jason Kelce is back in Eagles green for the 2022 NFL season, here’s some of what the legend had to say.

"We’ll see (about returning). I want to, but I gotta make sure it’s the smart thing to do, that I can still do that and be a good teammate, a good leader, and a good player. As long as I can do all three of those (things), then I’m definitely coming back."

Okay, so we got “we’ll see” and his theory that his return will hinge on whether he can be a good teammate, leader, and good player. Correct us if we’re wrong, but we all know he’s definitely all of those things, right? If that’s the criteria, then, we know he’ll be back.

Unfortunately, we all know that it isn’t that easy. Here’s more from the future Hall-of-Famer.

"The competitive side of me really wants to keep playing, there is no question about that. It is getting harder every single year and the league has changed so much. I probably wouldn’t be able to play this long if Wednesdays weren’t significantly scaled-down, if we were hitting every single day. That’s why a lot of these guys are going to play for much longer than guys have ever played. We will see."

Fingers are crossed this way. Another day passes. Kelce’s on the mind of Eagles fans everywhere.

Everyone’s hoping he’s back in a Birds jersey for what will be a 12th NFL season. Let’s hope he does us a solid. This is one of those times when we wouldn’t care if a good thing never came to an end.
