Howie Roseman, GM. 4. player. 54. . .

Yes Eagles fans, the Howie Roseman fan club is open for business!

Here’s a very controversial statement, one that, if uttered audibly, would spark an argument that went on for days. The Philadelphia Eagles could do much worse than Howie Roseman as their general manager. Yep! As Kurt Angle would say… It’s true! It’s true!

You’ve heard of Dave Gettleman, right? What about Joe Douglas? You’re fortunate that they aren’t running things. How are things going for Douglas in New York with the Jets by the way?

Howie’s job involves so much more than spending Jeffrey Lurie and the Eagles’ money on player deals. Contrary to opinion, he does so much more than hang around the NovaCare Complex until March before emerging to hand out bad deals in free agency. He isn’t sitting around with his feet up until April (before he shows up on draft day to screw things up).

Howie’s job description is much more detailed than that. Here are the facts though. That’s what G.M.s are primarily judged on, and if we take a little inventory. Things aren’t pretty for Mr. Roseman.

Prior to this season, the Birds couldn’t buy a Pro Bowler who was under 26 years old. There always seems to be some financial issue born out of bad contracts that prevents them from being competitive in free agency. Things seem to be turning though.

Throw out the wide receiver mishaps, and Howie’s drafts aren’t that bad. His most recent class could grow into a solid group. Philly enters the 2022 offseason in great shape. They have draft capital and money to spend. Don’t be shocked, after a few key additions and a few wins, if people are singing Howie’s praises again.
