Why can’t we just leave well enough alone? Think back to about a month ago. The Philadelphia Eagles made head coach Nick Sirianni available for members of the media shortly after their season ended. You remember! Vice president/general manager Howie Roseman made a special guest appearance for that one.

35 minutes… That’s how long they spoke with the media, but with each passing day, it becomes more difficult to remember what they said, other than that thing about Jalen Hurts. Sirianni and Howie both stated, without hesitation or any uncertain terms, that Number 1 was the unquestioned QB1 of the Philadelphia Eagles for the coming 2022 NFL season.

It wasn’t even 24 hours before everyone was back on social media discussing ways to land Russell Wilson and if there was any possibility of Aaron Rodgers trading that dark green and gold jersey for one of the midnight green, black, and silver variety.

There’s the obvious contingent of Jalen Hurts fans who believe the best thing to do is ride with him for at least another season, to exercise patience. That’s an easy angle to argue for.

If the Eagles were ready to contend for a title immediately, trading two or more first-round draft picks would be a no-brainer, but as things stand right now with this roster, that seems like a high price to pay when we know bringing Rodgers or Russ to town won’t substantially increase Philly’s chances of putting another Vince Lombardi Trophy on the shelf.

Then again… On second thought…

PFF’s Doug Kyed believes the Eagles become Super Bowl contenders if they add Russell Wilson.

It’s long been proven that, if you’re a franchise serious about being a perennial contender in the current NFL landscape, you had better figure the quarterback position out. There’s a reason why, every time we get to January, we’re consistently talking about the same five or six teams.

There are many reasons why the Los Angeles Rams are Super Bowl Champions. One of the major reasons that they’re in the position that they are in is because they upgraded at signal-caller.

The Rams are the target now. Each of the other 31 NFL franchises are staring at them and wondering how they take the Lombardi Trophy from them in 2023. For one NFL writer, Pro Football Focus’ Doug Kyed, there’s a simple way to increase the Eagles’ chances.

Ever since this Russell Wilson conversation became a thing, there have been arguments for and against his addition. Some say he’s the missing piece that would make Philly’s offense elite. Others say he’s cooked, and his career is over.

That second statement might be a little off. Did you see his numbers last year? You did notice that he made another Pro Bowl right? You did see that, despite the dislocated finger and despite the fact that he missed three games, he notched a four-to-one touchdown-to-interception ratio, and his quarterback rating was 103.1.

Russell Wilson is still one of the game’s better quarterbacks. There’s no way his addition makes the Eagles worse. If Philadelphia is going to trade for him, the price will be high. What it involves is the biggest question mark.

Trending. 6 FAs who would love playing with Jalen Hurts. light

Might Jalen Hurts be a part of the package? Could a deal be struck that allows Hurts to stay in Philly? Some have callled him a Wilson clone. Maybe, if he stays, playing with the original Russell Wilson will assist in making him better. Whatever the case and regardless of where you stand on that, there are two things that we know to be true.

One, these rumors are’t going to stop. Second, there could be some validity to Wilson’s presence being a huge factor in whether or not the Birds take two steps forward in 2023. We’ll make a mental note to re-address those Super Bowl theories at a later date.
