Let’s talk about the five best options for the Eagles in Round 1.

The NFL Draft is a crapshoot. It always has been. It always will be. Over time, the Philadelphia Eagles have hit the bull’s eye with a few of their selections. They’ve also missed the target entirely. Moving forward, everyone would like to see them win with more frequency, especially in Round 1.

As you know, they have three picks at their disposal in 2022. Everyone is hoping that all three are knocked out of the park. That would go a long way in improving a roster that hasn’t seen many of its young stars earn Pro Bowl nods or All-Pro mentions as of late.

DeVonta Smith, Lane Johnson, and Fletcher Cox are all examples of what happens when home runs are hit, but again, the Eagles have swung and missed too (and they missed badly when they’ve struck out). Throw Marcus Smith, Danny Watkins, and Jerome McDougle in that category.

Jalen Reagor and Andre Dillard are reasons for worry, but the hope is they can turn things around. Much has been made about what the Birds might do in the next selection meeting when they’re on the clock. Here’s a ranking of the only five prospects that make sense on the draft’s first night.

Things can change by the time we reach the end of April. For now, however, these are the best prospects that figure to be available when they’re on the clock.
