The Eagles shouldn’t spend tons of time debating what to do with Derek Barnett.

Time flies huh? Can you believe the end of the 2021-2022 Philadelphia Eagles season put a bow on five NFL seasons for Derek Barnett? Well, maybe you can. There were times in which he made the ordeal feel like an excruciatingly long process.

We won’t beat 96 up too much. He had a few memorable moments during his time in the midnight green.

There was the strip-sack in the NFC Championship Game versus the Minnesota Vikings. It was Barnett that jumped on the fumble after Brandon Graham punched the ball out of Tom Brady’s hands in Super Bowl LII. He had a memorable game-ending sack versus Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts in 2018.

Sadly, however, whenever an NFL franchise drafts someone with the 14th-overall selection, they’re looking for more, and the highlights are too few and far between for Derek. The Philadelphia Eagles drafted eight prospects in the 2017 draft. Barnett, though he has one foot out of the door, is the only remaining member.

Of the other seven, four aren’t playing anywhere. That speaks to how bad the Eagles’ drafts have been at times. Time is up. The experiment is over. It’s time to move on.

Barnett, now officially a bust, should be one of those easy roster decisions Philadelphia will have to make in 2022 on defense. Here are four more that fall in the same category. Feel free to add others if you deem it to be necessary.
