Following decent 2021 seasons, several Eagles are primed for breakouts in 2022.

Heading in the 2022 NFL offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with something they haven’t had in a while, expectations. Sure, they’re moderate. There’s no reason to go searching for non-refundable Super Bowl tickets just yet, but there’s a slight buzz that’s building in the fan base.

Coming off of a postseason appearance, Philly is armed with some spending money and three first-round draft choices, This could be a huge offseason. The coming NFL season could see the Birds take a step forward, thanks to a few young stars that they have to hang their hats on. Throw now second-year running back Kenneth Gainwell on that list.

. Kenneth Gainwell, running back. 14. player. 54. .

When the Philadelphia Eagles landed Kenneth Gainwell with the 150th-overall selection, during Round 5 of the 2021 NFL Draft, the word ‘steal’ was being tossed around rather regularly. That happens often, but Kenny G played some beautiful music in year one with the Birds.

He exploded on the scene with 37 yards and a touchdown on nine carries versus the Atlanta Falcons. He finished the season with 297 yards rushing on 69 carries, 302 yards on 38 receptions, and seven total touchdowns. Those numbers include what he did in his first playoff game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past January.

The Birds have to find a way to get him a few more touches in 2022. If they do, he’ll have a nice encore season in year two.
