Philadelphia Eagles second-day NFL mock draft (pre-combine edition)
By Hunter Doyle
Two playmakers find their way onto the Philadelphia Eagles roster.
Last year, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Landon Dickerson with an early second-round pick. Once he settled in, he made great strides at left guard and was an integral piece in the Eagles’ run game.
One year earlier, Philadelphia shocked everyone and took quarterback Jalen Hurts who is now entering Year 3 with the fanbase seemingly split on his talent and potential. Philadelphia has certainly had their hits on Day 2 in recent years with Miles Sanders and Dallas Goedert. They’ve also had their misses with Sidney Jones and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside on the other side of things.
Howie Roseman and company hopefully reevaluated their approach to the draft. The four-win season could have been a wake-up call. In addition, it seems that the new coaching staff may have more input on the draft than previous staff.
Jonathan Gannon’s reaction to the Milton Williams pick hinted at that. Making the playoffs was a major step forward after a horrendous 2020 season but there are still plenty of moves to be made. There were still glaring needs on both sides of the ball and special teams. Some of those needs will (hopefully) be addressed in free agency this month which will give us a clearer picture of the roster.
A few weeks ago, I released my first-round mock draft for the Philadelphia Eagles. I will definitely revisit that before the draft and will have a post-combine mock draft ready. For the time being, let’s stick with mock draft 1.0 with the Birds’ Day 2 picks.
