There’s no one on Planet Earth quite like Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni. The dude is an original. We’ve long known he doesn’t drink decaf. Sure, we had a little fun with a couple of his interviews (it’s a wonder he hasn’t turned on the media yet), but over time, we’ve grown to like him.

Saying that Nick marches to the beat of his own drummer is a gross understatement. We’ll never use his name and ‘uptight’ in the same sentence.

We’re still replaying that flower/roots analogy from time to time when we think about it. We’ve heard about him hooping it up with his team after practice. You never know what Nick will come up with next. We just know it’s going to be fun.

The Eagles head coach is apparently retiring rock paper scissors for a while.

One can only imagine what it might have been like to be a fly on the wall when Nick interviewed with Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman. Heck, we would have loved to have hung out with him during the Eagles’ interview with former North Carolina Tar Heels standout Sam Howell.

The Birds met with the six-foot-one, 221-pound NFL Draft prospect during the NFL Scouting Combine in Indy. Unlike last year, when Coach played a little rock, paper, scissors with guys to get the competitive juices flowing, this time, Nick brought a mini hoop bearing the Villanova Wildcats logo with him.

Yep, a mini hoop much like the one many of us had in our college dorm rooms. There’s no footage to share with you. Heaven knows that we wish we had some, but what’s even better than that is what Howell had to say about the experience after missing three of five attempts, going 40% from the floor we could say. “I’m probably off their board now”.

Yep, we have a live football sporting event to discuss, and by the looks of things. It should be fun talking about player interviews and on-field drills during these next few weeks.
