Better options for the Eagles than acquiring Amari Cooper

Eagles should explore trade options like Calvin Ridley or D.K. Metcalf.

Trades are rare in the NFL. These days, they barely happen at the deadline, but they do occur from time to time.

There have been times when the Eagles have made trades that made no sense whatsoever, giving up LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso for example, but they’ve won on a few deals too (Terrell Owens in 2004, Jay Ajayi in 2017, and Carson Wentz last year). They’ve also made some moves that, shall we say, didn’t quite turn out to produce what they had hoped (Genard Avery).

We’ve heard rumors, though rarely from sources that would make us believe there’s anything to them, that Calvin Ridley is someone the Eagles could have interest in trading for. We’ve also heard the Seattle Seahawks could add D.K. Metcalf to their trade block, and that’s had us ask questions about whether or not Philly could finally correct an error they made in 2019.

There’s one obvious negative to this idea. The Eagles would more than likely be forced to utilize draft capital as collateral to land Metcalf or Ridley. For that reason, though this is an option, it may not be their best option.

Still, this is a better idea than paying tremendous amounts of money to get Cooper to Philly. Put an asterisk by this one. Let’s explore a few other ideas.
