As bad as the Philadelphia Eagles have been at drafting wide receivers, it’s been a complete 180 (or pretty close to one) with what we’ve seen them do at the tight end position. Philly’s ‘factory’ hasn’t been at the quarterback position. It’s been in the assembly line we’ve seen from this team for almost two decades.

Just look at some of these names: Chad Lewis, L.J. Smith, Brent Celek, Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert. Sure, the argument can be made that Goedert could use some help. Jack Stoll has value, but he isn’t a threat on offense. It’s also probably time to move on from Richard Rodgers.

There’s also no reason to be thrilled about Jason Croom or this Tyree Jackson project the Birds don’t seem to want to give up on. Noah Togiai is also hanging around, but there’s no telling how he’s going to end up progressing.

If the Eagles want to upgrade the tight end position and stack a depth chart similar to some of the ones that have spoiled us over the years (that Ertz, Celek, and Burton trio for instance), there are several guys in the 2022 NFL Draft class that should tickle their fancy.

Here’s how the Eagles’ top 15 TE prospects stack up following the NFL Combine.

Texas A&M Aggies standout Jalen Wydermyer had issues with the drops from time to time, but he was also held back by inconsistent play at the quarterback position.

When the smoke clears and the dust settles, he’s the top tight-end prospect on this list following the 2022 NFL Combine. Here he is compared to his peers who will also enter the NFL Draft.

  1. Jalen Wydermyer, Texas A&M
  2. Isaiah Likely, Coastal Carolina
  3. Trey McBride, Colorado State
  4. Charlie Kolar, Iowa State

This list will change a few times between now and draft day. Keep an eye on Greg Dulcich, who ironically played under former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly. He could be a riser as we move through the draft process.
