It appears that another name has come up in terms of possible suitors for Philadelphia Eagles backup QB Gardner Minshew, and it’s a team we’ve discussed often for one reason or another over the past two seasons.

The Indianapolis Colts could be buyers if the Eagles want to part ways with their backup signal-caller. Jason La Canfora reports that they may be interested if they can’t land Kirk Cousins.

Wait! Kirk Cousins is an upgrade for Carson Wentz now? Really? Sorry, we regressed there. You’re right. This is about Minshew.

If you haven’t noticed, there appears to be a decent market for Philadelphia’s QB2. This could also mean that, if La Canfora’s theory is accurate, Eagles vice president/general manager Howie Roseman could fleece the Colts for the second time in two seasons.

In terms of Gardner’s suitors, we’ve previously heard that the Carolina Panthers contacted Philadelphia to inquire about some ‘Minshew Magic’. Heaven knows they need some, but while La Canfora’s theory about the Colts’ sudden interest in a former rival hasn’t been one we’ve heard all that often, it should be telling you something.

Jalen Hurts should be looking a whole lot better to you when you see what other NFL teams are going through with their quarterback searches. Hurts isn’t the perfect or prototypical franchise guy, but Philly can do a whole lot worse. See Sam Darnold for evidence.

Maybe the Eagles’ quarterback situation isn’t as bad as some of you are saying.

Let this be a lesson to you if you’re one of those Birds fans that have been super critical of Jalen Hurts. Playing quarterback in the NFL is hard. Finding a quarterback in the NFL is just as hard if you’re a professional football franchise that needs one. You’ve seen scenarios just like this one play themselves out time and time again.

There are only 32 franchises, and year after year, we keep seeing three to four guys taken in the draft that have the hopes of a city and organization on their shoulders. Sure Hurts has some work to do, but at least Philly isn’t in Indy’s shoes.

Since Andrew Luck retired, suddenly we might add, the Colts have hitched their wagon to Jacoby Brissett and Philip Rivers, and less than 12 months after trading for him, they moved on from Carson Wentz after a single season too. The next time you’re experiencing quarterback envy, just look at what’s going on in Indianapolis. You’ll feel ten times better.
