Eagles Free Agency Rumors

The Eagles apparently aren’t out of the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes.

As more and more players are snatched from the list of available options we hear tales that are quite familiar around these parts. You know, those stories about how the Eagles leadership team was seated at the negotiation table but decided to back away at the last moment.

The Eagles put in an offer for Christian Kirk, but we’ll pass on giving a guy $72 million over four years when his best season produced 77 receptions for 982 yards and five touchdowns. Who would have thought that and Kirk would have helped reset the wide receiver market?

Meanwhile, at the time of this story being written and published, conversations about where Deshaun Watson might end up are still all the rage around NFL circles.

We thought that we might finally be able to remove his name from any rumors that connect dots between him and the Eagles, but trusted voices like Barrett Brooks and Dan Sileo don’t think Philadelphia is out of the discussion. Recently, former Eagles president Joe Banner said the same thing.

For days we’ve been hearing the Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers were the frontrunners to land the suddenly-controversial signal-caller, but with the Birds having the most collateral to get a deal done, this is an interesting conversation piece. The best question, however, is why would Philly want a quarterback that doesn’t want to be here.
