Okay, does anyone have any idea what the Eagles are doing?

Remember in history class when we heard about ‘the shot heard round the world’? Yeah, those were good times. The most stressful part of the day was trying to figure out what we’d wear to school the next day. Now, life is about bills, taking care of our own families, and trying not to get too emotionally involved when the Philadelphia Eagles do something that we have no explanation for.

For those who are a little hazy, that ‘shot heard round the world’ refers to the battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775. That began the American Revolutionary War. There’s another take on the phrase. In 1951, New York Giants outfielder/third baseman Bobby Thomson hit a game-ending home run to sink the Brooklyn Dodgers and win the National League (NL) pennant.

We thought we’d see the Birds fire a few shots with spending money and draft capital, but so far, other than the addition of Haason Reddick, the gun’s jammed every time the hammer’s been cocked back. If you’re excited about the Zach Pascal signing, you may want to temper the expectations slightly. This isn’t history in the making or a home run to send your favorite baseball team to the World Series.

Nope, this feels different. Then again, we could be overreacting, but only time will tell.

Well, at least we have the draft to look forward to. No, scratch that. Howie Roseman will be making the picks. We might be screwed here.

Oh well, there’s no use in crying over spilled milk. You were promised a few reactions to this signing. We always keep our word. Here are a couple of immediate responses and a few theories about what all of this means. Be forewarned. You may want to sit for some of this. We’ll give you the bad news first.
