Ranking 5 NCAA QBs Eagles should have on their 2023 NFL Draft board
By Ryan Loftus
If the Eagles trade into the top five (or ten) next season, they could have a shot at the best talent in the class.
As of now, it seems unlikely that Bryce Young and/or CJ Stroud will wind up in Philadelphia, but if a trade package is put together or, if one or both of these two falls into the mid-teens, it could influence the Eagles organization to move on from Jalen Hurts.
Recent quarterbacks taken from the Ohio State Buckeyes program are developing a reputation for failing in the NFL, but Chicago Bears star Juston Fields and his successor, C.J. Stroud, have a chance to change that narrative.
While Young is probably the best quarterback of the 2023 draft class, there is a legitimate possibility that Stroud has an equal opportunity to be the first quarterback selected next year. Stroud and Young will be 21 years old when they are drafted, which gives the Eagles a long future with either one of them and plenty of time to build around them.
Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young, as of now, figures to be the top quarterback taken during the 2023 NFL Draft. If the Eagles are interested and they find a trade partner that will allow them to move up, they’ll get a star.
Young stepped in at quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide after Mac Jones’ departure and arguably upgraded the position. He performed at an elite level. He maintained calm despite playing behind a shaky offensive line. 2021 was Young’s first year under center for the Crimson Tide, so much hinges on what he does in 2022.
