7 low-key second-round options for the Eagles in the 2022 NFL Draft
Might Trey McBride be the complement for Dallas Goedert the Eagles are looking for?
It isn’t mentioned that often, but the Eagles could certainly use a second option at tight end to give Dallas Goedert some help. Look at who they currently have behind him at the position on the depth chart:
Tyree Jackson, Richard Rodgers, Jack Stoll, Noah Togiai. Seriously, do you trust any of those guys? It’s probably time to invest some serious draft capital in the position, and one of the better prospects that figures to be available in Round 2 is Trey McBride.
Add his name to a list of second-round options that include Greg Dulcich (UCLA Bruins) and Isaiah Likely (Coastal Carolina Chanticleers). Week-in and week-out, teams knew they had to stop those guys and developed schemes to make it happen. Week-in and week-out, no one got it done.
McBride racked up 90 receptions for 1,121 yards in 2021. That figures to translate to the next level if he’s utilized properly.
The beauty of adding McBride to the Eagles’ offense is this. He could step in and be a starter for most NFL teams, but in Philly, he wouldn’t have to be. As a second option, he could cause monstrous headaches and be a thorn in the side of opposing defenses as part of a one-two punch with Goedert for years to come.
