811. Scouting Report. Michigan Wolverines. David Ojabo. player. Pick Analysis. EDGE. 51

David Ojabo could slide, but hopefully, the Eagles have a better plan than hoping so.

Your heart has to go out to David Ojabo. It wasn’t that long ago that people saw him as one of the top five edge rushers in the draft along with his former teammate, Aidan Hutchinson, Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux, Purdue’s George Karlaftis, and Florida State’s Jermaine Johnson.

A torn Achilles suffered by Ojabo during the Michigan Wolverine’s Pro Day changed that. Now, the theory is he’ll hear his name called on Day 2 of the draft.

There aren’t many better players that the Eagles can land with the 51st-overall selection, but we’ll place this one in the category of worst-case scenarios in Round 2 because we’d rather Philadelphia take an edge rusher much earlier than 51, and there’s also this to consider.

Once we reach this area of the draft, there should probably be better players available for Philly to utilize a draft choice on. Throw guys like linebackers Quay Walker and Christian Harris, edge rusher Boye Mafe (maybe), and safety Jalen Pitre in that category.

If any of those guys are available (or if all of those guys are available), they’re probably better fits for the Birds at 51 than Ojabo would be.
