Sub-radar, late-round NFL Draft prospects worth the Eagles attention
Trey Gross could be a steal for the Philadelphia Eagles as a seventh-rounder or a UDFA.
If the Eagles are looking for a big body playmaker at wide receiver, Trey Gross is the man for the job. Then again, he could make waves as a tight end at the professional level.
He’s a six-foot-four, 210-pounder with all of the tools. Philly only has two wide receivers on the current roster that weigh in at over 200 pounds. Gross is hard to tackle, and that could pay dividends late in games when the smaller defensive backs are tired of trying.
The DSU wide receiver is known to fight for extra yards and rarely gives up on the play. He ended his career at Delaware State with 2,137 receiving yards, and 29 receiving touchdowns.
His five seasons were loaded with highlights and big-time performances. A four-touchdown day, albeit in a loss to North Carolina Central University comes to mind. Some might be unimpressed by his 40 time, a 4.69 second showing at the HBCU Combine, but Philly struck gold in the latter rounds with the selection of Quez Watkins recently. Greg Ward was an undrafted free agent addition and might be the third-best receiver on the Eagles roster currently.
Gross could be another steal for the team. He may grade out as an undrafted free agent, but once the draft closes and teams begin adding free agents, this is someone that Philly should at least inquire about.
