54. . . . Brian Dawkins (1996). 7. player

The most beloved Philadelphia Eagles legend of all time checks in.

If this was a list of the most beloved Philadelphia Eagles of all time, Brian Dawkins and Jason Kelce would be players 1 and 1a. They were both the heart and soul of their respective Eagles eras. Both played at an elite level for more than a decade. It doesn’t get much better than what they brought on the field either.

Throughout 13 NFL seasons, the Wolverine tallied 1,231 tackles, 41 interceptions, 28 sacks, 17 additional quarterback hits, 162 pass breakups, 39 forced fumbles, 22 fumble recoveries, and three defensive touchdowns while appearing in 201 career games with 200 starts. That includes what he did in 18 playoff contests.

Pretty impressive, huh? As far as the resume goes, try this on for size: four-time First-Team All-Pro (2001, 2002, 2004, 2006), a Second-Team All-Pro election in 2009, nine Pro Bowl nods (1999, 2001, 2002, 2004–2006, 2008, 2009, 2011), a spot on the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team as well as an election into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

And, perhaps you’ve heard. No one will ever wear the number 20 jersey again now that it’s been retired.

There’s only one thing that Brian Dawkins didn’t do, win a Super Bowl as a player (he earned one as a member of 2017’s administrative staff). That’s the reason for him landing at number seven on this list.

Don’t blame the lack of hardware as a player on Dawk or his effort though. If Philadelphia would have had 11 clones of Weapon X on defense, they would have won that Vince Lombardi Trophy a little sooner.
