The Philadelphia Eagles got two young future stars for a bargain.

The Eagles added solid depth with center Cameron Jurgens, the expected successor to the throne belonging to Jason Kelce, and tight end Grant Calcaterra, a Second-Team All-AAC nod that, had it not been for concussion issues and early retirement, probably would have been a second-rounder.

Landing Calcaterra in Round 6 is a steal, much like it was when Philadelphia landed Nakobe Dean in Round 3 and Kenneth Gainwell in Round 5 a year ago. Trust us on this one. This young man is a baller and should contribute immediately to Philadelphia’s offense.

Cam Jurgen’s contract details ($6,903,022 in total value)

Signing Bonus (estimated): $2,200,380

Salary Cap hit (estimated): $1,255,095

Unfortunately, when you’re a sixth-round draft choice, your deal won’t be as impressive at the coin Jordan Davis is expected to cash in on. Cameron has done okay for himself though. His estimated signing bonus lands him slightly above $2.2 million.

Grant Calcaterra’s contract details ($3,834,142 in total value)

Signing Bonus (estimated): $174,142

Salary Cap hit (estimated): $748,535

There seems to be no fear of Calcaterra’s past injury history coming back to haunt him. He was a full participant at rookie minicamp. That’s great news.

His signing bonus breaks down to $43,536 per year. His base salary is expected to increase from $705,000 to $870,000 in 2022 and 2023 and from $985,000 to $1.1 million during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. He gets a $174,144 guarantee by signing.

At the time of this story being written and published, Spotrac has Philly’s cap space at -$21,625,031, but that’s expected at this time of year. If the salaries of their 51 highest-paid players are calculated, they currently have $4,969,969 in cap space.
