We’re having a hard time arguing Noah Elliss and Britain Covey onto the Eagles roster.

The days and months are really going to start flying by now. They tell us that April showers bring May flowers. April also brings an NFL Draft that leads us to rookie minicamps in May and OTAs that will eventually be held in June. The Philadelphia Eagles‘ 12 undrafted rookie free agent additions will have more than their fair share of opportunities to battle their way onto the 53-man regular-season roster.

How realistic is it that they will? Let’s spend a few moments taking a deeper dive and stacking them, shall we?

The ‘we just don’t see it happening’ tier

12. Noah Elliss, defensive tackle

If we spent time trying to rank Philly’s 12 UDFAs, obvious questions can be asked. How can we compare guys who play different positions? Are we discussing their chances of making the roster or something else?

Let’s stay in that mode of thinking and discuss both Noah Elliss for a second. Perhaps he earned his Eagles opportunity a year too early?

Javon Hargrave and Fletcher Cox are both scheduled to hit free agency’s pool in 2023. Maybe had Noah joined the team after a decision by the Eagles to move on, he’d have a better shot at making the roster.

As of right now, it’s hard to believe anything other than Elliss is the low man on an eight-man totem pole at the defensive tackle position that not only features Cox and Hargrave at the top but also Jordan Davis, Milton Williams, Marlon Tuipulotu, Marvin Wilson, and Renell Wren.

Noah ranks last on our UDFA, and that isn’t because he can’t play. It’s because we can’t come up with any theories that end with him earning a spot on the team or beating out anyone that’s already here.
