Five of the Eagles’ 17 regular-season games are already trending towards the must-win variety.

Another hurdle of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ offseason marathon has been conquered. We’ve known who the Birds will play for a while. Now, we know when those games will take place. The continued climb back to prominence begins in Week 1 with a game versus the Detroit Lions.

In Week 2, the Birds host the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football for their home-opener. It’s a long season. There are no ‘gimmes’, but all opponents aren’t created equally. Dare many of these games are already trending towards being ‘must wins’?

Sure, every game is a must-win in the NFL more often than not, but five of the 17 matchups we can’t stop staring at feel like they could go either way and could, conversely, wind up being sneaky tilts that could decide the season.

They’re the games that you should circle. They’re all games that we may look back on at the season’s end and say ‘those were the games that helped fuel a playoff push” or “those five games ruined everything”. We wouldn’t be surprised either way. We begin with that clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
